Our Story
Baseball Card Exchange began in a tiny 500-square-foot building on the corner of Henry Street and Ridge Road in Lansing, Illinois. Steve Hart opened the doors on October 1, 1990, and never looked back. Steve continued to offer exceptional customer service and fair pricing. The customer base began to grow as Steve earned a reputation for being an honest business owner.
As the business expanded, Baseball Card Exchange relocated to a larger store in a strip mall on the corner of Ridge Road and Burnham Avenue in Lansing, Illinois. Steve saw the future of sports cards as he began to take the business online and started selling on eBay in 1997. After an explosion of online sales, Steve decided to close the retail store and move to a warehouse in Munster, Indiana, to focus solely on the internet business. Once Baseball Card Exchange outgrew that warehouse, the company relocated to a large warehouse in Lynwood, Illinois.
Today, Baseball Card Exchange is recognized as the industry leader in unopened vintage sports cards, and Steve Hart has become the most respected and trusted authenticator of unopened wax products. Baseball Card Exchange was built on vintage cards and unopened vintage wax material. However, BBCE has expanded its interests and is now one of the leading companies in autograph and sports memorabilia.
Now, BBCE has a 13,000-square-foot warehouse facility in Schererville, Indiana, AND a 5,000-square-foot superstore store in Schererville, IN!
